Using BrowseAloud
You can now listen to this website using BrowseAloud.
BrowseAloud can help you if you need online reading support. It works by reading web pages aloud. It also highlights each word as it is spoken, to help you follow and understand text.
This can help people who have difficulty reading text on screen, or people with dyslexia, low literacy levels, mild visual impairments and who don’t have English as their first language.
You can also use BrowseAloud to:
- magnify the text
- look some words up in a dictionary
- save text as an MP3 and listen to it later.
How to use it
You need to download and install BrowseAloud before you can use it. You only need to do this once. It is free to download.
Download it from the BrowseAloud website.
Once it has downloaded, you will see a toolbar on your screen. You can move this to anywhere on your screen by dragging it.
Now, move your computer’s mouse over text on any page. BrowseAloud will start to read it out.
If you want it to stop, move the mouse away from the text or point to a different part of the text to start again.
If you do not use a mouse, you can use the Control key (ctrl) to turn the voice on or off.
