The ethos of Funds in Court [FIC] is to provide the best possible outcome for all clients by adhering to the highest professional and ethical standards.
The Code of Conduct is informed by this ethos. It outlines the expectations of the Senior Master that:
- all members of FIC will, when acting on behalf of the Senior Master, maintain the highest standard of ethical behaviour
- all FIC Officers will treat each other with dignity and respect when they are at work.
In achieving this purpose as an organisation and as individuals, FIC staff are expected to act in a manner that values the importance of the following principles.
Duty to the Court
FIC Officers have a primary duty to the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Duty to the clients
Subject to their duty to the Court, FIC Officers have a duty to act in the best interests of the clients.
Integrity
FIC Officers should conduct themselves in a professional, ethical and objective manner.
Quality
FIC Officers should perform their duties efficiently and effectively, exercising proper diligence, care and attention, and seek to achieve high standards of Office performance.
Respect for people
FIC Officers should treat clients, fellow Officers, Office stakeholders, judicial Officers and all people with whom they have contact as representatives of the Office honestly and fairly, and with proper regard to their rights and responsibilities.
The Code of Conduct implements and manages an effective ethical culture. The Code incorporates the Code of Conduct of the Victorian Public Sector.
