Many clients receive help from an attendant carer.
An attendant carer will support you in your home and community. Attendant carers help you with personal care needs such as:
- eating
- dressing
- personal hygiene
- lifting or mobility
- taking medication.
This is to help minimise the impact of your injury or illness.
Some people have an attendant carer visit for a few hours each week; others might need 24 hour care.
Paying for attendant care
If you have received compensation from a transport accident, then TAC should cover the cost of attendant care. This is usually the same for WorkSafe claims and medical negligence cases.
If you are not eligible for help to pay for attendant care, you can apply to access your funds held in Court to cover the costs. You should talk to your Client Services Officer about what you need.
