Occupational Therapists are trained to work with people who have a health condition that makes it hard for them to participate in activities in their life.

Occupational therapy aims to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. An Occupational Therapist can help you learn how to perform daily activities, or can advise on how to modify your home or lifestyle, so that you can live more independently.

An Occupational Therapist can teach you things like:

  • cooking
  • cleaning
  • using public transport
  • using modified clothing, assistive devices and alternate techniques
  • budgeting and shopping.

They also run activities and exercises to make it easier for you to do things at home or to help you recover. Many Occupational Therapists specialise in driver assessment and can give you advice on what modifications or aids you may need, and where the vehicle modifications can be fitted.

Occupational Therapists write assessment reports outlining if you need medical treatment, house modifications or carers. They work in many different environments including at homes, workplaces, schools, nursing homes, and hospitals.
