The staff at Funds in Court (FIC) support the Senior Master.

Senior Master

The Senior Master is an Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria. The Senior Master holds funds, investments, and assets for people who have a disability.

If you have money administered by the Senior Master, you are a “client” of the Court.

The Senior Master considers application about how clients can use their funds held by the Court in the best way for them.

A team of managers supports the Senior Master.

Client Services Officers

Each client is assigned a Client Services Officer.

Your Client Services Officer is your main point of contact with FIC. Your Client Services Officer will help you when you:

  • want to use your funds to buy something
  • need a regular maintenance payment
  • want the Court to consider another, more complex application.

Client Services Officers prepare court orders and other documents for the Senior Master.

Client Services Officers also deal with other agencies such as Centrelink, the Ministry of Housing and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) on behalf of clients.

Client Liaison Officers

Our Client Liaison Officers (CLOs) visit clients in their home, whenever they are needed, and help identify services, treatments or products that will assist you.

They think about what you need now and in the future.

This includes thing like:

  • attendant care
  • rehabilitation
  • accommodation options
  • house modifications
  • counselling.

CLOs have experience in helping people with disabilities.

Legal Officers

The Legal Officers check all legal documents and agreements for the Senior Master. They also make sure that all payments, into and out of Court, comply with relevant legislation, rules and orders.

The Legal Section looks after some matters that deal with the rights of clients. They can help you with some legal matters.

Investment Officers

The Investment Section invests and manages the funds held by the Senior Master for clients.

The aim is to keep your funds secure and maximise current and long-term investment returns.

Taxation Officers

Funds held in Court earn income. This income is “taxable”.

The Taxation Officers prepare and lodge tax returns for every client for their funds and the income they earn.

The Taxation Officers do not lodge your personal tax return. If you are not sure what this means, see our Tax page.

Operational, administrative and support staff

Our reception and administration staff make sure FIC runs smoothly. They help clients when you contact the Office.

FIC has an internal team who manage our secure IT systems.
