If you have funds in Court, it is because a Judge or Magistrate makes an order (a decision) that money paid to you through the courts should be paid into the Supreme Court to the Senior Master.
They will decide this because you have a ‘legal disability’.
Having a legal disability means you:
- may have had an accident
- may have an injury or illness
- may have an intellectual or physical disability (or both)
- are under 18.
The Senior Master will hold your money and support you in making decisions about how to manage it for your benefit.
You can apply to access your funds to pay for items and services. Your Client Services Officer will support you in making the application. The Senior Master or the Judicial Registrar will approve an application based on the information provided and will always take into account your will and preference.
The staff at Funds in Court support the Senior Master. For more information see Who Works at Funds in Court.
