If you are a client of the Court, you can apply to access your funds for items you need. For some people this may include buying a house.
It is important to remember that every case is different. You must always talk to your Client Services Officer about your own situation.
This section will look at some of the things you need to consider before you can buy a house, and what happens when you apply:
- Requirements
- In principle approval
- When you find a suitable property
- Why you need a trustee
- Looking for a house
- Building a house
- Living arrangements
- Selling or moving house
- Ongoing costs
- Centrelink
- Other housing options
If you are interested in buying a house, read our Buying a Property Information Sheet [PDF 216KB] or our Easy English How to buy a house guide [PDF 588KB].
Payments through the courts do not include money specifically to buy a house. Your Client Services Officer can help you work out if you can afford to buy a house, or if there are other options for you. Buying a house is a big decision, and one the Senior Master takes very seriously.
